Built By Roofers, Not Salesmen
Denver-owned and operated since 2018 — honest assessments, quality craftsmanship, and a crew that treats your roof like it's their own.
Our Story
James Whitfield was born and raised in Colorado, and started framing houses at seventeen — long before he ever picked up a nail gun for a roof. Over the next decade he worked for two of the largest roofing companies on the Front Range, learning the trade from the deck up.
What he saw during storm season, year after year, stuck with him: company after company cutting corners on hail damage claims, rushing homeowners into scopes of work that didn't match what the roof actually needed. In 2018, he started Summit Shield Roofing on the belief that homeowners deserved an honest assessment and a quality repair — not a sales pitch dressed up as an inspection.
Summit Shield has grown from one truck and one crew member to 12 people strong. James's wife runs the office — scheduling, invoicing, and the first friendly voice most customers hear on the phone.
The crew stays rooted in the community it serves: Summit Shield sponsors Denver youth sports leagues, and offers a 15% discount to active military and first responders on every job, every time.

Meet The Crew
James Whitfield
Founder & Owner
James Whitfield started Summit Shield Roofing in 2018 after 12 years in residential construction and storm damage restoration. Born in Arvada, he built the company around a simple standard: do the inspection right, tell the truth about what the roof needs, and build it to handle Front Range weather.
He personally reviews complex scopes of loss and steps in on insurance adjuster walkthroughs whenever a homeowner needs an advocate.
